Hey. Hope you guys can help me.

Ive read through a few of the threads on this site, and have some ideas of were to start. But Nothing that fits what I really need.

My Car (BA Falcon XR6 Turbo) has a factory fitted colour screen, and steering wheel controls that I want to keep.

Im looking at one of the alpine factory upgrade modules. Im just not sure exactly which one I will need to use.

I haven’t decided on Apple TV or Mini. Thinking TV though as it already has all the outs i need (right?)

So the Alpine unit will need inputs for that. I know that I will need a separate module to connect the Alpine unit to the factory stearing remote controls aswell.

A second AV in would be great too so that I can plug up my iPhone.

So any advice on:

1) which alpine system to use.
2) which off the shelf power converter i can use for the apple TV. And.
3) Does the apple TV need to be shut down or can i just cut the power?

Ok let me know what you think. I had a hard time getting the finish to look good, and after reading some posts I think im going to take it back out eventually and use some of that rubber undercoating to try and give it an OEM look.

Step 3: Throw some fiberglass on it

Step 4: Smooth it out with bondo

I’m wishing now that I would have cut out those bumps that used to mold around the vents, but oh well. Let me know what you think.

Oh yeah, and as long as I had my dash ripped apart I though I’d do some accent painting on the vents and around the shifter (silver).

Hello, I got a free optiplex, and formatted the hard drive to try and install Gentoo on it. Every time i try and start the computer and boot to any disk, whether a BIOS or Gentoo, it says press F1 to restart or F2 to enter setup…and I try one of those keys but nothing happens. Ive checked the connections, contacted Dell (hahaha)…they said that the hard drive might be broken but it was fine before i formatted it. Any ideas?

I reallllllllly need a new button board for an EBY-701. I messes mine up trying to extend the IR sensor and now I won’t be able to program it to “auto-on”. I need one fast. Thanks!

Almost brand new Via MII-12000. I tested it when it arrived, but decided not to build the pc. The board is in perfect shape, still smells new. Guaranteed not to be DOA. Feel free to ask any questions or offers you might have. Thanks.

After a bunch of reading, Ive learned that there are basically three solutions for carputer radio:

- cheap USB modules by Silabs or a Radioshark or whatever
- the HQCT module from MP3Car
- a Visteon Zoom thing with a cable from MitchJS

Is this right? I want to use the Zoom so that I can get HD radio and analog radio. Also, is there a schematic for the serial cable MitchJS sells? I saw people mentioning it but couldn’t find it.
