Relay Question

I plan to get a vary bare setup running in my car tomorrow with no dash or anything just to get an idea how I will finally run everything. The question I have is, will it be fine to use the existing 4gauge wire running to my amp and split it into a relay that will go to my inverter? Another question is, the relay I have is going to be very hard to fit a 4gauge wire on the end, are they all like this? Now to my final question I think I am going to just tap into my radio harness for the ACC wire to trip the relay, since this is such a small wire can I run a very small wire for that through my car to the trunk (I have a good amount of 22gauge)? Any input is appreciated thanks!

PCI vs USB Sound Card

First, my car will be running 4 speakers through a 4 channel amp, as well as 2 subs through a 2 channel bass amp. So I need 5.1 Sound Card options. Running RoadRunner.

I am having a lot of trouble figuring out what sound card to put in my car, as it seems there is no preferred card. I have searched for many USB options, and have heard many mixed reviews on them, so I am wondering, would it be better to get a PCI Card (with a PCI riser cable, as my case doesn’t have room), or get a USB sound card? Is there a real sound improvement with either one?

*Also… in your opinions for USB:

Sound Blaster Live! (Is this one 5.1?)

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX (discontinued)

Sound Blaster X-Fi

Turtle Beach Roadie

Zalman ZM-RSSC

Which is the best? Or do you have a different one to recommend?

If PCI is the way to go, I would greatly appreciate some recommendations for those too.

Please if anyone can give some recommendations, it would be a great help to me.

My last hold-up before I can move forward, ugh. :ballchain:

Thank you to all those who reply! :)

Couple of things bugging me..

I run Streetdeck Lite v1.1.0.0 I think.. on my Infill T3

What is the “Buffering off” option on the radio page? Can i enable it?

When I turn off my car SD is set to suspend then hibernate or something.
When I start up again and play MP3’s I have lost sound on my right speakers, i.e. it’s like I have set the balance to be left speakers only.
I have to exit and restart SD and then everything is back to normal.
Whats going on here?..

USB Device Not Recognized

Hello All,

This is my first post so please be gentle on me.

I recently bought the Kenwood DNX5120 however I’m having issues with the USB capabilities. Unfortunately the USB device is not recognized upon starting the car. I must manually unplug the device and reconnect it.

This is a major pain as I have the device stored and hidden underneath my center console. I’ve provided links to the specification page of each device to assist.

Why is the drive not recognized when starting the car?

Thank you.

USB Device not loading on boot

Hello!

I’m new to the site but excited for a resolution. I have a recently purchased Kenwood DNX5120 Nav/DVD head unit that I am attempting to establish a connection with my external hard drive.

Unfortunately the USB harddrive is not recognized upon starting my car. I must unplug the harddrive and then reconnect it for a solid connection. At that point the Head unit recognizes the device.

If it helps any I have provided the specifications for both devices:

Why must I reconnect the drive every time I start the car?

Thank you.

Graphing with RRFusion in RR possible?

One of the features I love in Fusion Control Centre is the graphing instance (in the default skin graphing acceleration).

I’m about to configure my Roadrunner install, and want to use RRFusion to keep it all in RR (or until being able to pull different pages from Fusion depending on RR keypress is possible). Is there a way to produce the graphs in RR? I searched for “graph” and “graphing” and also looked through heaps of skins to no avail.

Cheers,
Hamish

I have a decent laptop - any good for car pc?

I have a fairly high spec (core2duo) Sony Vaio laptop, but the screen is broken (only half display). Would this be useful to use as my car pc and connect to a touchscreen? I amd COMPLETELY NEW to this and have no hardware other than the laptop so please bear with me.

If I could use this, then where do I go from there? It is a 3 series coupe by the way.
Best touchscreen to get?
Adaptors for laptop power supply?
Wiring?
Speaker connectors?

As I said, first visit to website so I am a bit dumb!
